About Riding the Rainbow

Mission

"I help teenage girls manage their depression, anxiety, and lack of self-confidence through the Riding the Rainbow journals and my Rainbow Rescue program, so they can enjoy a normal, daily life experience".                 ~Dr. Lisa

My Inspiration

In 2019, my 18-year-old daughter went into a deep depression, and severe anxiety. Her condition worsened and eventually she had to take a leave of absence from school and enter a residential mental health facility.

After her release she continued to struggle with depression and anxiety, and the coping mechanisms and techniques her clinicians had given her weren’t effective. For three years I partnered with her to function in the “real world,” and take on her new role as a college student.

Today, we are what I call "in a rhythm." She is wrapping up her senior year in college and is on schedule to graduate in 2025. Throughout her journey I have learned about her and what it takes for her to manage her symptoms and how critical it is for parents and school counselors to be a part of an overall support system.

The Rainbow Rescue Program

Throughout the wellness process I have witnessed my daughter's struggles, but also her resolute persistence, and now she is a young adult approaching graduation. Out of this painful journey, I created the Rainbow Rescue program because I know, one hundred percent, the awful pain and feelings of helplessness you as a parent experience watching your child suffer.

Rainbow Rescue is a seven-step program which incorporates the proven tools we use to get her out of bed, to class, complete assignments, maintain a regular sleeping pattern, eat regularly and recognize the triggers of her depression and anxiety.

The Riding the Rainbow Guided Journals

These journals are a coping tool for your child and a way for them to freely express themselves. As parents we know our children don’t always tell us what’s hurting them, and the journals provide a safe space for them to release and express.

The journals are age-appropriate and designed for kids, teens, and young adults. They’re an avenue for girls to relate to a character who is going through very similar challenges.

This is a guided journal with prompts to help with answers to those hidden, difficult, questions that are necessary to heal and return them to a normal, daily life.
